Sir Bob Geldof heads list of big name speakers at BIBA 2008


The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has announced aline-up of heavy weight speakers for its 30th conference and exhibition to beheld in Glasgow between 30 April and 2 May.

 

Musician and campaigner Sir Bob Geldof and BBC SecurityCorrespondent, Frank Gardner OBE will make keynote presentations.

 

In a new departure for the event, our opening keynote session willconsist of three experts in their fields who will share the stage to debate thevital global issues for the next decade. The debate will be moderated by BBC TVbusiness presenter, Declan Curry, who will invite questions from the audience.

 

The influencing tomorrow debate – panel experts:

 

    *Leading authority on competitiveness is Stéphane Garelli, Professor at theInternational Institute for Management Development and the University ofLausanne.  He is also the Directorof the World Competitiveness Centre.

    *Leading political economist, Dr Noreena Hertz is a distinguished fellow atCambridge and an influential advocate of ethical globalisation, believing thatcorporate social responsibility can deliver increased profits.

    * JamesRubin served under President Clinton as Assistant Secretary of State and ChiefSpokesman for the State Department. Since leaving government, he has been Visiting Professor ofInternational Relations at the London School of Economics, a partner atcommunications consultancy, Brunswick and a regular commentator for the FT,BBC, CNN and Sky News.

 

BIBA Chief Executive, Eric Galbraith, said: “In addition to ouropening panel debate, we are also delighted to be able to announce Sir BobGeldof and Frank Gardner as next year’s keynote speakers.  In order to allow as many members aspossible to attend the conference and exhibition all employees of BIBA memberfirms will now be able to attend free of charge.”

 

As in previous years, the keynote sessions will be supported by aprogramme of industry-focused seminar sessions and the largest insuranceexhibition in this country.
